In WA, is there any law against giving a part-time employee paid vacation? My mother has worked full-time part-time (25+ hours a week, set schedule) for her employer for 25 years and been given paid vacation for 15 years. Now her employer is telling her they can't legally pay a part-time employee for vacation.
State/Country relating to Question: United States
There is definitely no such federal law. I have looked up the Washington State statutes and there does not appear to be any such law in Washington State. It is at the discretion of the employer. I would tell your mother to ask her employer to cite her a statute because I have not found anything in the statutes that would make offering vacation leave illegal.
