i have a question concerning a possible breech of confidentiality. My son was treated at our local hospital for an incident that required him to have blood drawn then recieved a prophylaxis shot as well. After about two weeks the infomation showed up on a local web site call topix in our town. In this foreum they released medical infomation of the incident and the treatmetn and lab work results. Information that was listed was only given to the hospital staff. When I call and talk to the administrator of the facility he told me their was nothing he could do and never even attempt to find out who did it. Its there anything I can do to find out on my own. thanks concerned parent.
State/Country relating to Question: Kentucky Already Tried: I talked to the local admininistor at the hospital and we also went and talk to the local county att. she advised us to leave it alone that there was nothing she could do to help us.

You can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Human Services and request that they investigate the matter. A great description of the complaint process is found at: http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/complaints/index.html Good luck and best wishes!
