What is the statue of limitations on buisness interuption insurance if a company is giving me the run around? Are they buting time so they don't have to pay me? The loss was 19 mounths ago.
State/Country relating to Question: Iowa Already Tried: They hired a cpa to inspect the 711,000 dollar claim I turn into the cpa. I gave it to the 90 days ago. 50 days after I gave it to them I haven't herd anything so i called them and they told me the guy handle the claim was on vacation and would call me 2 weeks later but still waiting. Every time I call them or send them anything I never get a responce. Every time I call them they tell me they need more info. They never call me to tell me about it until I try to contact them.
If they were obligated to pay you under an insurance policy (contract) and did not, then the legal matter would be considered breach of contract. The statute of limitations for breach of contract depends on state law. In most states it is around 6 years, which is measured from the date of breach (in this case, when they should have paid you had they acted reasonably under the contract).
If you are having trouble with your insurance company, each state has a regulatory arm, often called the "[state] Department of Insurance". You can file a complaint (often online) with the agency.
