Is there a limit as to how much a landlord can raise your rent in a given year ? My lease is up nd I have received a new lease from the landlord. I have been hear for 5 years and the rent usually has increased 10 to 25 dollars per year. This year its going up 85 dollars. Is there a limit or an average that is can be increased ? Thanks in PA.
State/Country relating to Question: Pennsylvania Already Tried: nothing yet jusy looking into it
To answer your question PA has no law which limits the increase. Generally in Pennsylvania, once the original lease term expires the landlord can raise the rent so long as he gives you notice of the increase. The current PA landlord tenant statutes provides that landlord can increase rent but not increase security deposit if held in escrow. See section, Section 250.511ahttp://www.attorneygeneral.gov/uploadedFiles/Consumers/landlord_tenant_act.pdf
