how legal is it for a charter school in California to have students attend classes from 7:45am to 4:00pm daily without any PE classes and no brakes. Students are not allowed to leave their classroom to eat lunch either.

Thanks for your question. You owuld have to calculate instructional minutes here.the law sets these out here--I am including this for your reference.. "Equitable Provision of Resources: The independent study option is to be substantially equivalent in quality and in quantity to classroom instruction. This would include meeting the minimum amount of school days for charter schools, 175, and minimum instructional minutes. so there isn't a set standard in regards XXXXX XXXXX the students breaks?
No it only speaks to minimum nuber of instructional minutes. This does seem like a lot of time here unless they are cutting days of school year here or otherwise lowering overall time. Breaks here are covered in regulation..It probably should be though..
