What if the renters left personal property in the rent house after they moved out. Now want it back, a iorning board, a dryer, and a washer rented from Rent-A-Center. What is my leverage with these itams. Because they owe me money. They want to come and get the itams. And when I discussed the money. They commented of course they will pay me later. But wanted their stuff now. What is my legal hold on the itams.
State/Country relating to Question: Texas Already Tried: Just really need to know if, I can hold the things they left for possible the money they owe.
If those items belong to them, you must return them. You cannot hold onto them until the renters reimburse you. You would have to take the renters to court over back-rent, but if you do not return the items, then they can accuse you of theft and take you to court for the value of the items. Sincerely, Dimitry Alexander Kaplun, Esq.
