i have recieved a target letter from the FBI stating i am involved in mortgage Fraud. I was an investor into a real estate group that required normal full doc info from me 5 years ago. I contacted an attorney in the Tampa region who didn't have any suggestions for me that didn't have a price tag of $50,000 dollars. Public defendants office said they were no help until I was in Jail. No idea where to go?
State/Country relating to Question: Florida Already Tried: Contacting Attorney in Tampa region. Contacting public defendants office.
If the FBI is involved, you are going to need to retain the services of an attorney licensed in Florida, or is also eligible to practice in Federal Court. $50,000 does seem like alot to charge but a reasonable fee, could range from $10,000-$25,000 depending on if a trial in involved. Once you are charged and have a set court appearance, you could apply for a public defender, if you cant afford private counsel. You should be able to at least get a free consultation from an attorney. They will be able to give you some direction, once looking over this letter, to see how to approach the charge.
