State/Country relating to Question: North Carolina Already Tried: just received the letter..not able to contact anyone yet..I want to know the best route to take
This is very far along in the process. If they are executing on your personal property that means that they have filed a claim in court, you failed to respond, they received a default judgment and they are working to collect items to assist in getting their money. If you never received notice of the complaint in court, you can seek to have the default judgment vacated for lack of notice. But honestly, your best bet is to contact that attorney for the other side (the court can tell you who it is) and ask for a settlement deal. They won't likely lower the amount due, but they''ll be willing to take payments rather than having to deal with your personal property.
