I married a man from Great Britain in 1996. A few months following the marriage I found out he was having an affair. He confessed he married me in order to get a "green card" so that he and his son could live in the U.S. I immediately filed for divorce after finding out about the affair and his intentions to immigrate here. I told his immigration lawyer what he was doing, and I don't know the specifics, but I found out he was walked out of work from INS and deported. I haven't heard from him since, don't know where he is. Can I get this annuled after it's been such a long time? I never thought or knew much about annulment until hearing something about the subject on the radio last week.
State/Country relating to Question: Louisiana Already Tried: We were married in Arizona, and divorced in Louisiana. I haven't attempted anything so far. Just wondering if it's possible to get the marriage annulled.
Good afternoon,I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma. You can certainly file an annulment suit against your husband based on Fraud. Time is really not the issue. However, the fact that you are already divorced means that you are going to be spending a it of money just to be able to say that you were never legally married.I wish you the best.
