Hello, About 4 months ago I purchased several Airline tickets from Craigslist from a gentlemen saying he was a Delta Employee. After several purchases I was confronted by Delta security upon trying to check in for a flight. They told me that the tickets I bought were purchased with a stolen credit card. I rebooked my flight and never purchased from him again. This week I purchased a travel voucher from a lady saying that she would book a flight with a travel voucher . Arriving at the airport she indicated that the flight i wanted did not have any more "voucher seats" but maybe she could help out with my return flight. So I booked a one way flight on my companies corporate card. When I arrived for my return flight she said she had arranged my return flight using the voucher. when i tried to check in, again Delta security saying that the ticket was purchased with a stolen card. They have since contacted my employer and told them everything that has happened. How much trouble am i in ???
State/Country of Question: Georgia Already Tried: I have not tried anything at this point... not sure what my exposure is. Am I liable for the fraudulent Charges? Is there legally something I could be charged with. Is it appropriate that they contacted my employer as this could jepardize my employment
Youe employer may view this negatively and can take whatever measures that your contract allows. If you do not have a contract, you are likely an at will employee and you might have to deal with some form of punishment or conference.Legally, it appears that you simply relied in good faith on representations made to you during the purchase of these tickets. As long as you had no intentions to defraud or mispreresent what you purchased to the airlines, I see no legal or criminal wrongdoing that really will effect you. You were the victim.
So can Delta Airlines attempt to collect the charges from me? Is there any Law enforcment agency that would persue me for this? Do I need an attorney?????
If you get sues or law enforcement starts digging around, I would contact an attorney. I would also suggest immediately reporting the individuals that sold the tickets to you to the police and get a copy of the report. However, Delta can only go after you for any benefits or services you used that were not paid for. You could go after the person who sold you the tickets in turn.
