Alternatively, if a customer paid for the service with a credit card, the customer may attempt to dispute the charges through the credit card company. However, to succeed on such a claim, the customer's disatisfaction will generally need to be reasonable. On the other hand, if the business makes a "satisfaction guaranteed" statement, the reasonableness factor may become less important. If your father is sued, he will want to retain an attorney who is licensed to practice in his state immediately to help him defend himself in the suit. If the customer refuses to pay and your father believes he is entitled to payment, your father will want to consult an an attorney who is licensed to practice in his state to help him determine whether or not he has grounds for a claim and whether or not pursuing the claim would be in his best interests.
