I believe the Az labor Laws says that when an employee is terminated they have 72 hours to receive their pay. I was terminated last Wed. Aug.5,2009 @ 9:00 am. as of today August 12 I still have not received my pay for 4 days and 2 hours. I was told by the Office manager that I would not receive my pay until the other employees receive theirs on Friday @ 10:00 am. Is this right and what are my options in this situation.
State/Country of Question: Arizona Already Tried: I have call the Office Manager twice trying to receive my check.
HelloCustomerYou are correct, in Arizona the employer must pay you either the next payday or within 3 working days, whichever is sooner. You can call your employer and cite Arizona Revised Statutes Section 23-353. It is a criminal petty offense not to do so. If they still refuse, you should report them to the local Wage and Hour Board of the Department of Labor.
