I provided a confidential statement to my employer against another employee that had filed a workers comp claim. In the statement I provided information was provided that injury was not done at work. I believe their claim was denied. After the fact I found out that the information I gave was released and the person I had made statement about was able to read what I had told the HR dept. Legally can the employer release a confidential statement w/o my knowledge or permission. Would there be any type of recourse?

There is no statutory bar to the release of the sort of confidential information you are describing. You could sue the employer under the common law Tort of "public disclosure of private facts," however, you would have to pay your own attorney's fees -- win or lose.
