8/7/09 - Friday - PM - I want to file for Social Security under my ex-husband's social security number - but he will not give me his social security number - I have been unable to trace his social security number (or name) through the Social Security office - Is there someone (a lawyer, private investigator or ?) who could assist me? Good afternoon Susan,I', sorry to hear of your dilemma.If you ever filed a joint tax return with your ex, you should be able to obtain an IRS copy of your earlier tax returns and get his social security number that way. Additionally, you might consider filing a Declaratory Relief Action with the court asking the court to Order that he provide his number to you.I wish you well.
