I was assulted 4 days ago outside a store in PA. The incedent was caught on camera and i have a witness who agreed to testify. The person who assulted me has been stopping by my house and has be threating my girlfriend and i for about 4 months now. He finally stepped up the threats and started making them into actions. The state police are going to charge him with simple assult and im wondering if there is anything more i should pursue with this case or if it would just be a waste of my time?

However, some prosecutors discuss matters with victims, giving victims some influence over the process. Beyond that, a victim has no control over what crimes will be charged.Generally, many states provide restraining orders to prevent an individual from harassing another person. Because you did not mention any domestic relations involved in the situation, I would assume that you would not be eligible for a domestic violence protection order. However, you may be eligible for a civil Harassment restraining order. These often constitute no-contact orders and allow a judge to impose penalties for contempt if a person violates the order.Further, an individual who has been the victim of harassment, assault, or threats that have damaged the person (injury or anxiety) may have grounds for a successful lawsuit against the aggressor. You should compile all evidence and documentation regarding the matter and consult with a licensed Pennsylvania attorney. He will be able to evaluate the strength of a possible civil lawsuit. You should consult an attorney who is licensed to practice in your state about these matters.
