I bought a house with my girlfriend back in September. My Credit was not good enough to be put on the loan papers. I put up the earnest money and paid off her truck and paid for the inspection. Now she says that I don't have a legal right to the house seeing that it is in her name and she is paying the mortgage. Is this true?
If the house is in her name she is the legal owner of the home. You would not have any legal right to the house. It really doesn't matter who pays for the house, the deed identifies the owner. Since you are not married there is no implied joint ownership of the home. Yoiu might be able to sue for the earnest money, but a court would probably find this to be a gift.
