I have a roomate that came needed a place to live 4 years ago. She came into a cash settlement & moved to Texas to be with her sister. She left some furniture items in my house & told me to do whatever I wanted with them. After being at her sisters for those 2 years, On July 3 2008 she drove from Texas & just showed up at my house. She never called to let me know she was coming. She just showed up. I felt sorry for her so I let her in. I can't get her out. I told her in Aygust she would have to pay rent & 1/3 of utilities. She pays the $300 per month but refuses to pay utilities because in her mind even if she wasn't here I'd have these utilities & they would have to be paid. I have asked her to move & she has told me if I do, I am taking my furniture with me. Can she legally take whatever is now in my home or can I charge her storage fees? I am using the furniture as my own since she walked out 3 years ago. I have also found out that when she moved to Texas she never changed her mailing address. So she has shown residency in my home for 4 years according to her drivers license. What do I do to get rid of her & not get ripped off at the same time? Thank You Lori McNEw
State/Country of Question: Florida Already Tried: asking her to leave, listing out all bills, talking to her mother. She is scamming disability into getting checks every month so she can live in my house all day. She does nothing here to help. I JUST WANT HER OUT!!!
Since he came back and has reclaimed the furniture prior to you notifying her that you considered it abandoned sht furniture is hers. To get her out, you will have to evict her by giving her 30 days notice to vacate (assuming there is no written lease agreement in place)
