I had a tubal ligation in April, got the o.k at my 1 month follow-up that everything was fine, and now I just learned that I'm pregnant with twins! I can't afford this now! But what can I do. I can't terminate this pregnancy now. Can I pursue a wrongful Life Case?
Optional Information: Congerville, IllinoisAlready Tried: Nothing yet, it's Sunday.
DearCustomer
You may be able to pursue a "negligence" claim against the doctor who performed the tubal ligation for his/her failure to make sure you were, indeed, not able to conceive, as you were told you were. You may even be able to obtain some additional costs for the cost of raising these 2 new children. You should consider speaking to an attorney who works in malpractice in IL.
"Wrongful life" does not normally refer to a lawsuit where a person gets pregnant when they were not supposed to. A wrongful life claim is one normally made by a person who has a severely disabled child.
