Hello. I'm Dr. Gardner. I'm hoping I can help you with Barbie.
One common cause of weakness in goats is thiamine deficiency. If this is the case, having a vet administer a B1 injection can rapidly correct the problem.
It is also possible that Barbie may have eaten something she should not have. Goats are usually good at avoiding toxic plants, but even they sometimes make mistakes.
Has she eaten a lot of grain recently?
She may have a grain overload. If that's the case she could have rumen acidosis.
The pH of the rumen can become too acidic if they eat too much grain at once.
Is she bloated at all?
Ok. Any chance she could be pregnant?
Any idea how far along she might be?
So she should be around six months old now. That's old enough to be pregnant.
Unfortunately it sounds like Barbie needs to be examined. If she's pregnant, she could be having complications. There are metabolic problems that can come with pregnancy, like pregnancy toxemia.
They carry 144 - 155 days
Hopefully she just needs a shot of B1 and all will be right with the world again.
You're very welcome. Good luck to you both. Don't hesitate to contact me with any further questions.
