I am about to throw my surface out the window :) My mouse

Customer Question

Hello! I am about to throw my surface out the window :) My mouse keeps jumping to the upper right corner of my screen. I've tried recalibrating.
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: Surface pro 3
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Yes, where do I check for the date this was done. This has been happening for a few months. Before and after the update.
JA: Anything else you want the computer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nope, that's it. Thank you

Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. Open Control Panel then click on Mouse then the Pointer Options tab. There look to see if the box is checked in the Snap To field. Let me know what you find please.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No, Snap To is not checked
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

How about the Hide pointer while typing?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
hide pointer is checked
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Try unchecking that and see if that helps?

Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

You should also scan for malware. Go to this LINK and run this program.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Ok. I will let you know. Thank you
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

My pleasure!

Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Any progress?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I won't have time to use it until I get home from work, is that okay? I did download the Anti-Malware.
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

No problem. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
NO this did not fix the problem. It still drifts to that spot.
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

The malware scan is what you just tried?

Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Try disabling the mouse pad and connect an external mouse to your surface and let's see how it handles that.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I have a wireless mouse and it is still doing it.
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Does it always snap to the same place?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Does it snap to that location as soon as you remove your finger from the touch pad, and if you keep your finger on the pad will it move to that location?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
It snaps to that spot when I'm using the mouse or the finger pad.

Open Control Panel then go to Programs and Features and see if there is a program there labeled Synaptics Pointing Device Driver.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No there is not.
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

I don't remember if I already asked or not, but what happens if you remove the keyboard?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I'm not sure. I don't usually work with it off. I tried it for a little bit and it didn't seem to happen
Expert:  Dan replied 1 month ago.

Try removing it and clean the contacts with some alcohol and a cotton swab and see what happens.

How did you make out?
