My son has an Aspire ES1-511-C590 laptop. The charger is plugged up, but the battery doesn't appear to be charging. Any ideas? We tried the little battery re-set on the back of the computer, but that didn't help.Thanks

Please follow these steps once:

Turn off the laptop.
Disconnect the power cord.
Now unplug the battery. You can turn it over to remove the battery.
Hold down the power button on the laptop for 1 minute.
Now, connect battery and then power cord and restart it.

And tell me the outcome.

No we haven't. I think it is a couple of years old. Possibly more.

I looked on Acers website but all I found out was that the battery can't be removed.

Please remove the battery by unscrewing it.

Turn off the laptop.
Disconnect the power cord.
Now unplug the battery. You can turn it over and remove the battery.
Hold down the power button on the laptop for 1 minute.
Now, connect battery and then power cord and restart it.
