Hi Kathy,When did the problem start? Is it stuck in a loop saying it's attempting repairs?
A clicking sound, like inside the computer?
What happens when you try to repair it?Usually a clicking sound means the hard drive is failing. What do you see on the screen if you turn it off and turn it on without pressing F2?
How old is the computer?
And do you know what kind of hard drive it has? Is it the one that came with the computer?
The one that should come with the computer is a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive, do you know if that sounds right?
Well I looked it up with the info you provided originally, Toshiba Satellite L55t-B5271If that's what you have then it has a 1TB (size) 5400RPM (speed) of the hard drive. Those hard drives are prone to failure after a few years, hence the clicking sound. Is it a constant clicking sound?
Yep then it sounds like your hard drive has failed - the data may still be recoverable but you will need to replace it first then take it to a computer store to have the data on it backed up. There is software that can scan a damaged hard drive if you have photos/videos on it.Does that make sense?
Well I suggest getting the hard drive replaced then - it's your only option
You're most welcome.
If you could take a moment to click on one of the green stars at the top to rate me for my time, it would be greatly appreciated!Remember you can continue replying to me until you've got all the information you need.Regards,Martin
Really, that's odd - what would you classify mt service:"Ok", "Good" or "Excellent"?The other too options apply if you thought I was rude in any way or simply weren't happy with my knowledge and assistance:"Bad service" and "Poor service" - these 2 don't get me paid.Since you can't click on the stars, select one and write it in here.
