Gordon, things seems to be little critical. From question i could understand that the HDD has some sort of issue as its not even loading OS. As a primary thing what we can do is to subject HDD to diagnostic test..
For that press F2 and scan HDD for any fault

I already informed that you can simply ignore the message that shows for extra services. The pop ups are really meant for customers who have little knowledge about computer as this pop up help them to select any services they require
