Hello and thank you for your question. I look forward to assisting you today. When you try to power it on are you holding down the power button for several seconds?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
but it flashes several times than goes out
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Nothing to add
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

Okay, are you powering up while it is plugged into the power adapter or just on battery?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Power adp
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
It's plugged in to the ext power. On/off flashes 5 times then goes off
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

Okay thank you. Can you remove the battery from your laptop? If so, unplug it first, remove the battery, then plug it back in and try to power it up.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I did that still the same
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

Okay, remove all power, press and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds then plug it back in and try again.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Held it for thirty sec flashed 5 times then went out
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

Okay give me a minute please.

Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

When the LED blinks is it steady?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Ok - blinks 5 times then goes out completely
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Doesn't flicker just blinks like it used to before coming on.
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

From what I have been able to find, the blink code indicates insufficient power supplied to the laptop. The power supply should still be under warranty so you should check with either the retailer you purchased it from or directly from Toshiba.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
it can't run on the power charger?
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

If it has failed, then no. The charger is also the power supply. It provides power to the laptop as well as charging the battery which explains why you can't power it up just on the battery alone.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Ok I'll try that. Thanks
Expert:  Dan replied 8 months ago.

You're welcome! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Dan,
Figured it out. The power supply was defective. Replaced it and everything is working. On the Toshiba there is a lite on the right side that is lit when the power supply is in. This lite was not on. Tested ps and found it not working. As soon SSI plugged in a new ps it took off.
