Does the screen flash even when the computer first turns on?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. Only once the windows screen appears
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Does it do this also in safe mode?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It does the same trying to reboot by using last best boot up otion
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Can you restart the machine and push the alt and the F10 key when you see the Acer screen if nothing happens restart and push F10.

Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

You would need to do this repeatidly when you see the Acer screen.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'll try that right now
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

OK I am standing by.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I need to select restore type. Do I select complete restore to defaults or restore and retain user data? The second I would assume
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes do the second one it should restore your machine to perfect working order without loosing your user data. Correct. Let me know the status once it starts.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Can this take a while? It is 2 minutes and not backed up any files yet. Would it be obtains the files?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes this process can take some time. I am going to advise if it fails you will want to use the first option but I don't think you will have any problems.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
4 minutes and It has just started. 1 per cent
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Good that means it's working this is going to be very time consuming. So just sit back and allow it to restore.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. Will you stay on line?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Message. Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume, restart the computer. Ok to restart
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes please proceed to restart

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The same error message is returning to the screen. Should I power off and on.
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes power off and on if this fails you are looking at option 1 sadly.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Will I loose all my files, documents and photos?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes you actually would, you can keep trying to resume but if it fails it means there is a problem with the operating system itself. I always advise everyone to make sure they keep back ups.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I don't have any. Is there any way of retrieving?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

The only way to retrieve would to have the hard drive removed from the computer and have it taken to a computer repair store and have them remove the data from the drive before the system recovery or putting it into an external hard drive enclosure and use a different computer to get the files off.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have an external hard drive but without the screen working on the desk top, how can in transfer files?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Like I said you would need to remove the hard drive of the computer and either connect it to another computer and go into it's contents as a second drive and remove the data or put it into an enclosure to connect it as an external hard drive and remove it's contents or have it taken in to have it removed. Those would be the only options after that is done then you can proceed to the factory reset.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. Thanks. Will take to a repairer. Can they reinstall the hard drive back to my desk top no problem?
Expert:  Charles A. Roberts replied 1 year ago.

Yes they would be able to put the hard drive back in no problem. Just make sure they don't remove the recovery partition just your data.
