Hello and welcome to Just Answer! i am Aitizaz and i will assist you today
is there any USB device connected to the computer or any DVD in the ROM?
OK! The reason it is asking for a boot disk is that there is not boot file available on the hard disk from where it could load the file. Did the computer come with windows pre-installed?
i am asking about acer aspire netbook
NO they don't. Some come with windows pre-installed and some with a DOS operating system.
OK! then we might restore the computer to factory settings in order to recover from this situation. are you ready for that? you will lose any data on your C drive by doing so.
we can take back the computer to the position when you first bought it.This will make it work once again.
are you ready for that?
please turn it on and press ALT and F10 keys together. better hold the ALT key before pressing the POWER ON button and then start tapping the F10 button as soon as you turn it on with ALT key depressed
what options do you see?
please turn off and follow the steps i am going to list now
Step 1: Start Acer Aspire laptop, and when you see Acer screen, press F2 to enter BIOS screen. In Main option, set D2D Recovery as “Enabled”.
Tips: This has to be made sure, otherwise, system restore would not complete successfully.
Step 2: Press F10 to save and exit BIOS. When you see Acer screen again, press ALT + F10. Until “Acer eRecovery” option appears, choose it and press Enter.
Step 3: Select “Restore System to Factory Default Settings”.
Step 4: Now that may needs to type password ***** you have set password ***** ET.
After you type correct password, make sure data would be covered and click “OK” to begin system restore.
Step 5: Until system restore reaches 100%, message “Recovery has been completed” pops up. Click “OK” to restart laptop.
Step 6: Don’t shut off and wait for some minutes.
Step 7: System basic settings window pops up.
Step 8: Read the license agreement and agree it by ticking “I agree license agreement”.
Step 9: Type user and password, and confirm password.
Step 10: Choose “Recommended Settings”. Type previous password, and press Enter.
please follow the above quoted instructions and let me know when you are done
OK! so you were able to go to BIOS by pressing F2?
we do not need installation media for these steps
did you press F2 key and went to BIOS?
please select SYSTEM RESTORE option
please try the SYSTEM IMAGE RECOVERY option by going back to previous screen
OK! so basically we have no other windows on your computer other than Windows 10. The reason is that you did not actually revert to windows 8.1 in the prescribed manner. Now in your case, you need to first re-install/restore windows 10 and then revert to windows 8.1 in a prescribed manner
i will let you know about reverting from windows 10 to windows 8.1 as well. please follow those instructions to revert to windows 8.1. but first install windows 10
please use the instructions in the following article to revert to windows 8.1:
sorry, i could not understand your point.
Because you upgraded to windows 10, all the system files of windows 8.1 were replaced with windows 10. Now you have to first install back windows 10, and then revert to 8.1
please go in the following manner:
1. First re-install windows 10 on your computer through the instructions i have already told you ( where you see windows 10 as an optionn in system recovery/image recovery options).
2. Once you have windows 10 back on your computer, please use the instructions given in the article given below to revert to windows 8.1
this indicates that some vital files have been mistakenly deleted in a manner that they cannot be recovered and used.
Do you see any sticker beneath your computer which holds a number or product key by microsoft?

Please start/restart your computer and tap F8 key and see if any option comes up

please look for a sticker beneath your computer
this is not a product key by MICROSOFT. you might find it in the packing of your computer. There will be a card by MICROSOFT mentioning the Product key
NO this is not. It will be a colored sticker with Microsoft written at the top and a product key below it
i will advise you to take the help of a computer savvy person in order to follow the instructions i have given through out this conversation. Try these methods and also look for the Product key. once you find it, please contact MICROSOFT to send you windows recovery disks.

NO! these are different from the one we are looking for. From where did you buy this computer?
Hello. My name is***** will try to provide you with some additional information that may help. When you are at the reimaging point, it should have finished making the disc bootable, at least under Windows 10. If you are able to get back to that point, that's what I would suggest doing now, so you will at least have an operating system installed. It is possible that the upgrade process had made your machine sluggish, but it shouldn't be that way with a fresh install of Windows 10. In fact Windows 10 is quite a bit faster than previous versions. Please let me know if that helps or if you can, let me know exactly where you're getting stuck and I'll try to help you with it.
