Trying to connect my laptop to a rca flatscreen and its not detecting the signal but when I plug the hdmi into the computer it recognizes it

Here are a few things to check. Using your TV remote control, make sure that the Input is set

to the HDMI port you have the cable plugged in to.

With the cable plugged in to both computer and TV, restart the computer and log in.

Once logged in, hold down the Windows key (just to the left of the spacebar)

and press P.

When the menu opens, use the down arrow key to select Duplicate and press Enter.

Your computer desktop should then show up on the TV screen.
