and its normally reset then keep my files,

ok, choose Refresh, it will not touch your files but you will need to install programs again but you cannot avoid this.

The next step is to attempt a reset but this is very likely to also fail, but first you need to get your data off the Laptop.

yeah, your hard disk has crashed. The data that was on it is lost so good you made the back up.
