i have an asus t100 notebook and it's frozen with a can't install updates message. i can't seem to turn it off. help, please?

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.
Remove the charger from the acer and hold the power button to off for 60 seconds.
Release, then connect the charger and try to turn on the acer.

it's an asus not acer, but i tried your suggestion anyway...still getting "we couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes, don't turn off your computer"

Did the Asus turn off when you held the power down for 60 seconds?

ok, power it off again.
Then hold the left SHIFT button and with it held down, turn it on and keep tapping F8 until you get to a menu.
Tell me please if you can get to this.

ok.. but we just need to get to the menu and now its turning off we can get to this.
