Hi, and thank you for asking your question.
When did you first start having this issue with the keyboard? Also, are you using Windows 8?
Keep me posted.

I received an auto update from toshiba. After that my computer went back to the start screen. After that my keyboard would not type in my password. I couldn't enter anything in the password *****

I see. Now, at the start screen, please click on the Power button and then HOLD down the Shift key and click "Restart" (while still holding down the Shift key.)
Does this bring up a blue "Choose an option" screen?
Keep me posted.

No it just powers down.

Hmm, did you make sure to hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard while clicking "Restart"? Could you try it just one more time, and let me know?
Thank you.

Screen did turn blue for a moment while in restart, now back to my sign on screen

Okay. Now, please tap both of the CTRL keys on your laptop a few times, and then try typing in the password ***** more time. If it still does not work, hold down both of the CTRL keys together and try typing - does it work this time?
Keep me posted.

Okay. Do you currently have an external USB keyboard that we could test with?
Keep me posted.
