How old is the laptop?
When you go to BIOS or Setup... menu, can you go to the Boot/Startup option and check if the hard disk drive (HDD) model is listed there (along with the cd/dvd drive model)?
Also, in BIOS/Setup menu, do you see any option to test/diagnose the hard disk?

about 1 year old. yes I see an option to test the hard drive and it says " hard drive not found"
it says " hard drive does not exist"
I'm sorry, this means hard drive hardware is damaged; it needs to be replaced.

Sorry, you would just call that number first. (Almost all companies do not have local service centers; usually, you either ship the laptop to them, or they would send you the part if it's replaceable by the consumer.)
