hi, i watched a bali dvd on my acer laptop, & it froze it and has now seemed to corrupt it, when it starts up it runs the startup repair - then comes up with this message"Windows cannot repair this computer automatically"I have tried to go into the advanced options for system recovery & have tried all options there, system restore & restore from factory default but it still won't fix the problem and says i need to get technical help. Can you help? Thanks, Pru.
Hi,What happens when you try the Windows complete PC Restore? Does it give any error message?Do you have the windows / recovery disk?Thank you.
it says
A valid backup location could not be found.
Windoes cannot find a backup on this computer, attach the backup hard disk or insert the final DVD from a backup set and click retry.
Can you turn off the laptop, then turn it back on and press at the same time the two keys Alt and F10 when the computer logo appears on the screen to see if you can do a complete restore? But it looks like the recovery partition is also damaged.Do you have the windows / recovery disk?Thank you.
i'll try find a windows disk. I have done the alt f10 - do i want to Complete restore system to factory defaults or restore operating system & retain user Data?
If you need files on the computer, then try "restore operating system & retain user Data" first. If it does not work, and you don't need the files, then try "Complete restore system to factory defaults "OK, please find the windows / recovery disk. Thank you.
Hi, after i did a complete restore i am now up and running again. Thank you SO much for the advice on the ALT F10 - as i wasn't able to completely restore previously.
Thanks again.
