I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ460E, 4GB Ram (2 cards). I closed

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ460E, 4GB Ram (2 cards). I closed my lid on my laptop and it went into deep sleep mode and wont wake up. When I try to boot up, I get power on, but only one quick blink of hard drive led, then thats it. No attempt to boot, no screen at all (stays black).

Keyboard caps lock and num lock leds do not respond. No respond to ANY fn keys. I have tried the battery drain and hold for 60 seconds on the pwer button, unplugged and reset both hard drive and RAM cards. Have disconnected the CMOS battery and tried to reset BIOS, but can not get any respsonse. Can not access BIOS and recovery disk will not read in CD Rom. CD Rom spins, but then stops.

Any suggestions, or is screen inverter or some hardware fried? Please advise. Thanks

I have owned in since June 2007

Hmm, ok its out of warranty unfortunately. When you turn it on now do you see any lights come on at all?

Customer :

the power light, the bluetooth light and briefly the hard disk light, then it (the hard disk light goes out) and just the power light and bluetooth light stay on

Ok, do you happen to have another Hard drive you can try to insert and see if it will do anything on the screen?

Customer :

no other hard drive, sorry

Also, have you tried to run the laptop on just one of the memory sticks

huebelhoer :

If not please try that, if one does not work try the other

i have tried the one stick of RAM method as I saw it in some other forums, but to no avail. Most likely the Hard Drive or Motherboard?

huebelhoer :

Yes its either the hard drive or the motherboard. So, first get a hard drive, (maybe you can borrow one just to check) If that does not work its the motherboard

Customer :

ok. will any laptop hard drive work? or it has to be from another vaio?

huebelhoer :

if it ends up being the motherboard, your probably better off replacing the laptop as replacing the motherboard is just not worth the money

huebelhoer :

Yes any laptop drive will work

Customer :
