Customer Question

In the state of California can a tenant be evicted at will? I am having some problems with lthe onsite manager. I called the owner with an urgent request to speak with her on 9/27/16.

A tenant is subject to protections from evictions. The landlord cannot simply lock out a tenant. If there is a lease, notice needs to be given per the lease, and then an eviction filed in court where landlord must prove a breach. If no lease, and tenant is month to month, 30-60 day notice is needed depending on length of tenancy. Shorter notice if LL is claiming tenant is in default of an obligation. self help is not permitted.
