Customer Question

I have stayed a few days after my lease is over because I have not been able to find a new place my landlord has not served me with an unlawful detainer but has been calling and emailing my cosigner threatening to sue her. My cosigner owns businesses and is afraid of losing everything. I want to know what is the most possible harm that could come to my cosigner if I I am evicted, if I fight the eviction etc, I realize my cosigner could be held liable for rent for any days after the conclusion of the lease that I've remained but could she be sued for more than that?

Good evening. I am Loren, a licensed attorney, and I look forward to assisting you.

Does your lease provide for monthly rent payments?

Have you offered the landlord rent for the additional time?

Also, what does the lease provide, if anything, regarding "holdover tenancy"?
