24 hour notice is legally not enough time before changing locks. Depending on what state the property is located in, it is generally a 3 day rule when beginning the eviction process.
In fact, the tenant can sue you for changing the locks before officially completing the eviction process in the court. This tenant could be awarded monetary loss, such as hotel costs. Depending on your jurisdiction, your tenant could receive even more money that the court considers penalties to you, which could amount to several months’ worth of rent.
24 hour notice is ok for maintenance service, but definitely not ok for changing the locks.
