I have a oil leak on the passenger side of my Kia Sportage. the oil tech said it seemed in the centre. the car runs great.

Sorry to hear that, but the best way to identify exactly where the leak is at, is by adding dye to the oil then running the motor for 10 minutes and checking underneath with a black light to see where the dye is coming out.

It can be very simple and easy too, like an oil pressure sender.

Thanks, Ron

I am aware of that :) I'm wondering what would make a new engine leak? Can it be as simple as a seal? Nothing was hit. I did recently have a rodent trying to nest in my engine however....

Anything can fail at any time and we'd only be guessing at what and where it is without doing my recommendation.

Like I said, it can be simple or major, will only know when we do this test.
