2012 KIA Sorento - Radio comes on for 10 seconds and then

Customer Question

2012 KIA Sorento - Radio comes on for 10 seconds and then nothing...all other components working; GPS, Radio channels etc....just no sound in radio or GPS.
JA: Is this an aftermarket stereo, or did it come with the car?
Customer: Came with the vehicle...purchased from Car Sense
JA: Are you fixing your Sorento yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: First went to KIA dealer.said radio was shot....took back to CarSense..they removed and replaced radio ...not the problem...said it was the AMP...replaced that and still not working...Carsense is not sure if the AmP is defective.....ordering another unit...could it be something simple.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just the solution

Hello, we do see a lot of radio issues with the 2012 Sorento. The issue you are describing sounds like the amplifier could be bad, however there is one thing that you should try before replacing any more parts. Remove all of the radio fuses, or remove the radio and unplug it totally from the vehicle. After it is unhooked or the fuses are out, play with the buttons on the radio for 15-30 seconds just to drain the capacitors inside the radio. Hook everything back up or reinstall the fuses and see if the audio works.
