Kia Troubleshooting Questions? Ask a Mechanic
Hello and thank you for your question! My name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you with your question today.
Does the vehicle run normally off idle? Also, does it matter if the engine is up to operating temp or cold?
And is the check engine light on again? If so, do you know what codes are being stored?
Sorry for all the questions but I have to get a real picture of whats going on.
Is the dealer going to warranty the converter for you?
Ok and finally, is the car running normally other then this stalling issue?
It sounds to me like there may be an issue with the mass air flow sensor causing this. If you have the car, you could try unplugging the mass air flow, then start it and see if the idle smooths out. If it does, then I suggest replacing the mass air flow sensor. If not, then I suspect a vacuum leak somewhere causing the idle to go up and down.
This could also cause the front O2 sensor to change the fuel mixture enough to make the car throw a converter code.
I would seriously look at these two possibilities since this is an on going issue.
