2007 Sedona, lost key so had new one programmed in.

Customer Question

2007 Sedona, lost key so had new one programmed in. Programmer shows key is stored to vehicle. started a couple times just fine. now it wont even crank. vehicle shows 1 key in memory.
JA: Do you have a backup key? Maybe the emergency kind that fits in your wallet?
Customer: just non chip key that dealership gave but said wouldn't start car. it would crank if you tried it but not start cuz no chip in it. it wont even crank engine now though. everything on dash lights up.
JA: Are you fixing your Sedona yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: disconnected battery for bit hoping it would reset car when reconnected. went thru fuses under dash
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: no

It sounds like the programming for the keys needs to be redone. It sounds like you have access to a programmer?

If you want to try to reset the computer and see it it will start a few more times in the meantime you can force a reboot:

Remove both battery cables and touch them together for about 2 minutes. This will draw down all the voltage in the computer and force it to reboot.

Reconnect the battery like normal and see if it will start.

Thanks but didn't work. Programmer and dash immobilizer light both confirm chip key programmed to vehicle. Even a non chip key should at very least crank engine over but no cranking just silence when trying to start. Checked fuses both under dash and under hood, all good. Tried cycling key in door for security.

The security system on the sedona is a starter kill system. That means if the key code doesn't match it won't crank. It's not the style that cuts the fuel pump but lets you crank.

None of the keys work?

Have you checked for voltage at the starter? You should get 12 volts at the large red starter wire and 12 volts on the smaller trigger wire with the key in the crank position.
