I'm using my friend's Kia Sedona and the HOLD warning light

Customer Question

Hi Pearl. I'm using my friend's Kia Sedona and the HOLD warning light comes on. What can it be?
JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: the orange HOLD light on the instrument panel. It's a 2008 model I think
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I've tried nothing yet, just trying to find out what it is.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Nope.

Hi .

There is a button in the centre consul where the shifter is press this in and out and see if the light comes on and off.

If working and the switch is off and the hold light comes on then this is a message to you that the automatic transmission

has a malfunction .

You will need to have a scan tool hooked up and check for transmission malfunction codes .

A code reader will not gather trans codes .

You will probably have notice when the light comes on that you have no overdrive .

The use of the Hold button, will let you start in 2nd and will only change up to 3rd but at a higher rpm and will not go into Overdrive .

Still need additional information then please get back to me with the reply button, and not the poor or bad service, this way i can get back to you or suggest another expert if needed.
