Customer Question

I have a 1999 Kia sportage. It keeps shutting off while driving car. We changed fuel filter. Didn't fix problem. Drained the gas tank and put in a new fuel pump. We drained part of gas in a large jar. The contents was something heavier than gas and when you shook the the contents became cloudy. Can you help please?

Hello I will help,

That sounds like water. Can you see what looks like puddles on the bottom of the tank?

Is the inside of the tank rusty?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
We drained the tank and it looks like baby oil in the bottom of the jar.

No rust

Sounds like someone has been installing additives in the hopes of fixing something. This will clog the pickup screen on the pump so you want to clean the tank before you run whatever is in there through the pump.

It could be ethanol/water mix, that does go cloudy when you shake it but I would not call the consistency baby oil.

Let me know how I can help

Thanks

Thanks. New fuel pump. New fuel and no more additives. Thank you. Hope you have a wonderful and blessed day.

Great, make sure there is nothing in the tank and you should be good on fuel flow.
