It sounds like you may have a bad master cylinder. The best way to diagnose a master cylinder is pinch off the brake fluid lines as close to the master as possible. This only works if you car has rubber lines at or near the master and some cars just don't. If you are able to pinch off the brake lines you can then press the pedal and see if it is stiff or if it still fades. If it still fades then the problem is the master cylinder. If it stiffens up then you will need to pinch off the brake lines one at a time at each caliper to see which one is causing the spongy pedal.

Sounds good. Let me know how it goes. If your amanti doesn't have rubber lines at the master then you will have to pinch all of the lines off at the calipers (unfortunately Kia doesn't publish a diagram and I can't recall from memory). Once they are all pinched off you should then get s stiff pedal. If not then the master is bad.
