2010 Kia Rio would not start or turn over (but dome light and door bell worked). Kia said it was battery. We put new battery in. Has worked for about a month. Tried to start yesterday, had lights and bell but would not turn over. Tried to turn key again and absolutely nothing happened (no lights, etc). Went back 10 min later and it started right up. Did same exact thing today. Is is started? Altenator? Some sensor? Pls help.

Hi,how are you? From what you are describing you have a alternator that is charging but not at the correct voltage and is causing your issue. The battery light will not come on unless the alternator is completely dead, yours has a short and is charging the battery but not fast enough.
Since the vehicle is covered under the warranty we are going to take it to the dealer tomorrow. Just frustrating because this is the 5th time we are bringing it in for this same problem. The last time they told us it was the battery. They have run tests on the altenator and the starter.....they said those were fine. Could they be mistaken? If they hook everything up to computer systems would a reading be off?
The dealer gets a little tricky when the vehicle is under warranty as they do not like to perform warranty work, yes this sounds like they are mistaken and the alternator defiantly sounds like your issue. The vehicle would need to be left at idle while at the dealer and the tester hooked to the alternator for a long enough period to fail the test, they might have to let the vehicle idle for 30 mins or so.
