I have a 2006 kia sorento with a fuel gauge problem, when I fill it up the fuel gauge reads full but when the gauge hits 3/4 of a tank the guage drops to empty and the fuel light comes on

The fuel level sensor is the problem.
The level sensor is inside the tank.
I'm going to show you.
See the arrow marked FLS.
You need to see if there is an interference there.
If not, you need to replace that sensor.
ok its not a very expensive job to fix it ?
You could also measure it with an OHM meter.

the dealership doesnt carry parts so if I call and explain the problem to them they should be able to get the part for when I bring it in for a service
