the radiator cap came off, i did not know it until the car stopped approx 10 miles later. i know how many miles it was because we backtracked and found the cap. it lost power, all of the dash lights came on and then it cut off. when we lifted the hood steam was coming from the radiator. there was no smoke.now it will not start

Hello, I am Scott and I will assist you with your vehicle concern.
First step is to check the following. Verify you have spark at the plugs. Verify you have fuel to the cylinders and since you heated it up, a compression check would be a good idea. These cylinders should show at least 160 to 180 per cylinder.
there is spark . . and fuel to the cylinders. how do you do a compression check. and what if there is not
You will need to remove the plugs and screw in a compression gauge and unplug the coils. Then crank the car 5 a five count {1 Mississippi, 2 mississppi....} take reading. Start at cyl#1 and work your way across.
