Sounds like the injectors are sticking open.Is the smoke black?

Customer replied 886 days and 14 hours ago.

no blueish grey , and the mechanic has changed injectors.

Bluish grey is oil burning like bad rings . Do you have a return warranty on this motor? Could also be a valve issue since it's running rough .

Customer replied 886 days and 13 hours ago.

i do have a warrenty on the engine, what its worth i dont know, but the engine is only rough for about half a mile, its only smoky and rough when cold ie been left standing overnight.

So it will stop smoking and even out when warm?

Customer replied 886 days and 13 hours ago.

yes thats correct, takes about 5mins.

Ok sounds like it can be a faulty fuel pressure regulator . If it was a major internal issue it would continuously run rough and smoke . If the injectors are ok then this needs to be checked next . Could also be a faulty coolant temperature sensor which is giving the wrong air /fuel ratio readings . These need to be checked next.

Customer replied 886 days and 13 hours ago.

ok, but could it be a con rod from the crankshaft to the piston, thats slightly bent, if one of the 4 rods to the cylinder is out ie damaged slightly, could that cause the problem , as it warms it acceps the fuel as normal????

No if that was the case it would make a knocking sound when running . You can do a compression test and if compression is off it's internal in that motor . If compression is good could be a sensor issue . Hoped this helped. Positive feedback and bonuses greatly appreciated .
