2004 kia optima 4 cyl. code p0183 fuel temp. high input sensor is bad.

This answer was rated:

i have a 2004 kia optia 4 cyl. code p0183 fuel temp. high input sensor is bad. how do you access this sensor in the gas tank? does the tank need to be removed? can sensor be access through the floor of the rear trunk? any advise would be appreciated.

The fuel temp sensor is located on top of the fuel tank, and unfortunately, there is no "access door" in the trunk, so the tank must be dropped to gain access.

  • Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Remove the fuel tank cap
  • Disconnect the return hose and vapor hose.

  • Disconnect the fuel sender connector.
  • Disconnect the high pressure hose from the fuel tank
  • Loosen the two self-locking nuts, that hold tank in the position and remove the two tank bands.
  • Detach the fuel filler hose and leveling hose.
  • Remove the fuel vapor hose and the fuel tank
