Hi,

You checked the transmission fluid while idling in neutral right?

So at this point you have the fluid at the correct level and still no reverse?

Correct

You may be at a point where the transmission needs a rebuild or replacement. These Jeep transmission are temperamental when it comes to fluid. They build up tarnish and wear on the transmission internals really quickly if the fluid is low- and occasionally when it's not.

How many miles do you have?

With that high of mileage it would be surprising if the transmission hasn't been replaced at least once already. Jeep transmissions usually last about 60k miles. If you have the original transmission at 163k miles then that's awesome. It's probably time for a replacement.
