My battery died so I just replaced it but I am still getting

Customer Question

My battery died so I just replaced it but I am still getting zero power. Is there something else I need to do to trigger the power system to function?
JA: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not?
Customer: I did not test as I just bought it 30 mins ago, no leakage
JA: What year is your MINI?
Customer: This is a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
JA: Are you fixing your MINI yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I had the battery tested and it was dead, just got the new on. Working on it myself and this is all I've done so far
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Nothing I can think of

Do the headlights work?

What about the dome lights?

Thank you for that information.

What is the battery voltage at?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
It is a brand new battery, just put it in 30 mins ago
Expert:  Amedee replied 4 months ago.

Excellent!

Now, lets check fuse number 5 under the hood. It is a 150 amp fuse.

If this fuse is good, then lets check to see how much voltage it has on it.

It should be the same voltage as the battery.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I honestly don't know how to check that
Expert:  Amedee replied 4 months ago.

You would use a voltmeter to check for voltage.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I don't have a voltmeter.
Expert:  Amedee replied 4 months ago.

Well, if your planning on taking matters into your own hands to save a few bucks, I would recommend that you purchase one.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay. Assuming fuse and voltage is good, what else could I do to get power on?
Expert:  Amedee replied 4 months ago.

Connect or replace the component preventing the vehicle from getting power.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay, and where is that located?
Expert:  Amedee replied 4 months ago.

You wont know until you use a voltmeter to diagnose it.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay, thanks.
